The rules of the scheme reflect the provisions of your EBA as agreed between you and your union, CFMEU FFPD and your employer.

The new long service leave entitlement is 13 weeks after 10 years (1.3 weeks per annum) and pro-rata after 7 years. This entitlement takes effect from the date specified in your EBA.
Any previous service is based on the previous entitlement of 13 weeks after 15 years service.

Your employer is responsible for paying your entitlement and the liability remains with your employer. SEET is the way we secure your entitlement going forward. Liability for service prior to the date of your EBA remain with your employer.

To make a claim for your entitlement, your employer should fill in and send the relevant documentation to SEET for processing.

Qualification to receive long service leave benefits is subject to the rules of the scheme.

All industry employers are required to provide SEET with details of their eligible industry workers every month. It doesn’t matter how often you change jobs within the industry or how many employers you work for, SEET maintains an up-to-date record of your
employer contributions.

Therefore, ALL your eligible work gets credited towards your long service leave entitlement. An annual statement is provided to all registered workers.

To enjoy the benefits of paid long service leave, you must be registered with SEET. The sooner you register, the sooner you will start receiving contributions towards long service leave.

All workers in the industry must provide their personal details to SEET. If you change your address or telephone number, you should notify SEET.

The information provided to SEET is used solely in the administration of the scheme.

If you decide to go into business for yourself as a working subcontractor or become a working director of a relevant company, you can still be covered by SEET.

If you are a working director of your own company, your work is still counted towards your long service leave.

The company must pay to SEET the contribution rate applicable at the time on a monthly basis. This rate is currently 2.0% (effective September 2009) of the gross wage as defined in your Industrial Agreement.

If you leave your employer and work for another employer in the same industry without an EBA, this may constitute a break in service In these instances, check with your Union to clarify your situation.

The maximum period you are permitted to be absent from the industry without losing all prior service is four years. Up to this time, you can pick up your long service leave account where you left off.

If you expect to be out of the industry for longer than four years due to special circumstances, please call SEET to discuss your situation.

A WorkCover break or unpaid sick leave of up to 48 weeks will count towards your long service leave. You will need to provide SEET with proof of illness or injury and contributions still need to be paid.

Long service leave is portable between States and Territories in Australia.

The interstate reciprocal agreement means that if you work interstate, your time in the industry can still be counted towards your long service leave if your employer joins SEET.
